Mark Engeberg serves as President of Avalon SAF, LLC, where he focuses on raising capital, business strategy, development, and operations. Mr. Engeberg has spent 20 years in the energy sector and has developed several entrepreneurial companies involving renewable energy, telecommunications, and commercial real estate. Mr. Engeberg is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Bachelor of Science – Finance.
Michael Flaherty serves as Executive Vice President of Business Development of Avalon SAF, LLC, where he focuses on business and project development. Mr. Flaherty has developed highly successful regional, national, and international businesses for several energy and software companies, including Energy Security Analysis, Inc. (ESAI) Oil & Gas data company; New England Electric Systems (now National Grid US); Pace Global Energy Services (a Siemens Company) of Fairfax, Virginia. Mr. Flaherty is a graduate of the McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Northeastern University.

Robert Luss serves as Co-Council at Avalon SAF, LLC. Mr. Luss’ practice began with the EPA Chicago Office in the Enforcement and then General Counsel’s Office. From there he went into providing legal services for Occidental Chemical Corporation (Oxy) for over thirty years during which time, in addition to providing in-house legal services, he was their Regulatory Counsel, worked on major mergers and acquisitions, created several Joint Ventures in Canada, Russia and China, and was Counsel to a JV Cogen facility. Mr. Luss has a BS in accounting from Boston University and a JD from Suffolk Law School in Boston and is a member of the Texas and Massachusetts bar.

Doug Gordon serves as Chief Counsel at Avalon SAF, LLC. Mr. Gordon spent more than 25 years providing legal services to the chemical industry including service as General Counsel and a member of the executive management team with Celanese Chemicals and Oxea Corporation, both multibillion-dollar multinational chemical companies. In addition, he has practiced in large law firms in Dallas and New York City. Mr. Gordon earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Juris Doctor degree from the Columbia University School of Law.
